Subscriptions: Managing Subscription Contracts

Learn how to view, pause, resume, and cancel customer subscription contracts from your Shopify admin.

GOAT provides a management interface to view all subscriptions and take actions on individual contracts.

Viewing Subscription Contracts

Navigate to Subscriptions > Contracts in the GOAT app to see all subscription contracts.

The list view shows:

  • Customer name

  • Subscription status (Active, Paused, Cancelled)

  • Products subscribed to

  • Next billing date

  • Subscription value

Click on any contract to view full details.

Contract Detail View

The contract detail page shows:

Customer Information

  • Name and email

  • Shipping address

  • Link to customer in Shopify

Subscription Details

  • Products and quantities

  • Billing frequency (e.g., every 30 days)

  • Price per billing cycle

  • Discount applied (if any)

Billing History

  • Past charges and their status

  • Next scheduled billing date

Available Actions

  • Pause subscription

  • Resume subscription (if paused)

  • Cancel subscription

Pausing a Subscription

When you pause a subscription:

  • Status changes from Active to Paused

  • Billing stops immediately - no charges while paused

  • No orders are created while paused

  • The next billing date is frozen

  • The subscription can be resumed at any time

To pause: 1. Go to Subscriptions > Contracts 2. Click on the contract 3. Click "Pause Subscription" 4. Confirm the action

Resuming a Subscription

When you resume a paused subscription:

  • Status changes from Paused to Active

  • The next billing date is recalculated from the resume date

  • Billing resumes on the new schedule

To resume: 1. Go to Subscriptions > Contracts 2. Find the paused contract 3. Click "Resume Subscription" 4. Confirm the action

Cancelling a Subscription

Cancellation is permanent and cannot be undone.

When you cancel a subscription:

  • Status changes to Cancelled

  • Billing stops immediately

  • No future orders will be created

  • The contract is closed

If a customer wants to subscribe again after cancellation, they'll need to create a new subscription from the product page.

To cancel: 1. Go to Subscriptions > Contracts 2. Click on the contract 3. Click "Cancel Subscription" 4. Confirm the action

Customer Self-Service

Customers can manage their own subscriptions through the customer account portal. See the "Customer Accounts Installation" article for setup instructions.

Viewing Customers with Subscriptions

Navigate to Subscriptions > Customers to see all customers with active subscriptions.
